About

The person behind the work.

26 years inside national institutions taught me how large organisations respond to change. The answer: not fast enough. Now I write about the gap, and how individuals can cross it.

I have spent my career watching how large organisations respond to technological disruption. The pattern is always the same: leadership acknowledges the change, commissions a review, and adapts at the speed of bureaucracy. Meanwhile, the technology moves at the speed of compounding.

When frontier AI arrived in late 2022, I recognised this pattern immediately, but at a scale that makes previous disruptions look gentle. AI capability is doubling on a sub-90 day cycle. Institutions adapt on 12 to 18 month cycles. That mismatch is not a policy problem. It is a structural threat.

The people who understand this early will have time to prepare. The people who don't, won't.

Armed with a Masters in Strategic People Management and a daily AI practice that started in late 2022 and has not stopped, I now split my time between three things: teaching individuals how to master frontier AI, warning institutions about the structural risks of inaction, and demonstrating what becomes possible when one person takes this seriously.

The book, the investigation series, the tools, the newsletter: they are all expressions of the same thesis. The future belongs to individuals who learn faster than their institutions can adapt.

“In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.”
Eric Hoffer

The path

How I got here.

2000 - 2015

Institutional operations

Workforce strategy, organisational design, and operational planning inside national institutions.

2015 - 2022

Strategic analysis

Senior analysis roles. Published strategic assessments for institutional leadership.

Late 2022

The inflection point

Started using frontier AI daily. Within months, recognised the scale of what was changing.

2023 - 2024

Deep immersion

Used every major AI system daily on real institutional work. Developed the mental model framework.

2025

The investigation begins

Launched the Outpaced series. 84-page strategic assessment delivered to institutional leadership.

2026

Artificial Leverage published

Book, website, tools, and newsletter launched. The mission goes public.

Convictions

What I believe.

Individuals who learn fastest will outperform institutions that adapt slowest.

The gap between personal AI capability and institutional adoption is the defining opportunity of this decade.

Mental models outlast product updates.

Tools change quarterly. Frameworks for thinking about tools change on a generational timescale.

The best way to understand AI is to use it every day on real work.

Not demos. Not tutorials. Real stakes, real deadlines, real consequences for getting it wrong.

Transparency beats mystique.

Everything on this site is free. The book is on Kindle Unlimited. The tools are open. Gatekeeping knowledge in an era of acceleration is a moral failure.

The work

Two missions. One thesis.

Equip individuals

Give practitioners the mental models, workflows, and confidence to master frontier AI before it becomes table stakes.

Warn institutions

Australia’s institutions are moving slower than exponential technology. Strategic analysis can help them understand the stakes.
